I'm at a manager at a restaurant. A few staff members were asking about my dreads. This one guy got super mad when I said I mainly for dreads because I really couldn't be bothered with hair maintenance, hated always brushing my hair etc. He said he knows I do drugs since that's what dreads symbolize. I told him that dreads cross all cultures and they don't mean any one specific thing. I said I have never done drugs or drank. He said I was lying. It didn't bother me that he made judgements, it just bothered me that he figured he knew so much about me to the point where what I said must be a lie. He was getting so bent out of shape lol. But in the end, some people are idiots.

That's ridiculous but unfortunately he probably won't change his mind. Maybe one day someone he's close to will grow them and he'll understand that you don't need drugs to have dreads. It's so silly that he's so set about it though.
The other people were arguing on my side. You are absolutely right that it's slander. I mean if my boss stared thinking i do drugs, that would really cause me problems. I ended up talking to my boss about it and he said that if he hears any rumors spreading around, disciplinary action will be taken against the staff member. And we have a company policy that managers can't hang out with staff so that works in my favor as I have never even seen this guy outside of work so it's not like he can back anything up. crazy people.

SketchyMagpie: Hey Danny. Depending on your hair type, you might need a few more inches. I started from short hair with 2 sets of dreads and they didn't stay in until my hair was 5 inches long

chesh: Hey rye, under the "Dreadlock FAQ" >>> "The Basics" there is information on washing on the bottom. In my experience so far it has been best to wash my dreads when they get itchy and use a dry shampoo to help with the oils that are produced naturally.
