Good call in taking the wraps out. I put some in early on and they fused with my dreads causing them to become really stiff. Good luck and have patience
Thank you yeah, my dreads really wanted to eat the wraps, even only having them in for a couple weeks. Had to cut the thread with scissors to get it out hahah. It did help some of the looser dreads take shape though, I think. Can't wait until my dreadies are mature enough to put wraps in again, and cool homemade beads, and whatever other trinkets bring me joy
Holy crap girl your dreads progressed so fast in such a short time! That crazy shrinkage 😯I miss the crazy loopy stage, it's so unique and filled with tons of changing personality.
We have 2 things in common, social anxiety and we're both in good old Idaho Own that beautiful hair, be confident and proud about your dreads because they take such great patience and will only become more awesome with time! There are still times I'll go out somewhere and I get people staring at me/my hair, and by now I just look at them and smile, smirk or laugh... I feel bad for conformists

Thanks so much! <3 with support from those close to me and the knowledge that I'm going down a path that I want to for myself, I've definitely gained a lot more natural confidence in a few short months. Amazing, really.
Idaho has its perks for sure. The nature I love - it's a beautiful state in places. The conservative "stuck in their way" mentality a lot of folks here seem to have... not so much haha. What part of Idaho do you hail from?
I'm a little jealous of your progress! They are looking gorgeous. I'm not overly anxious socially, but I still feel like having my hair this way has made me feel more confident and centered. Because I'm somewhat of a people pleaser and this choice is only for my own satisfaction, it's rather gratifying. You're definitely rocking the look! Keep it up!

chesh: Hey rye, under the "Dreadlock FAQ" >>> "The Basics" there is information on washing on the bottom. In my experience so far it has been best to wash my dreads when they get itchy and use a dry shampoo to help with the oils that are produced naturally.

SketchyMagpie: Hey. It differs on hair type but generally speaking, you can lose up to between 25-50% of the length. Most people will be around the 25%-35% mark, ish.

FriendlyGoblin: Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting dreadlocks and I was wondering how much they'd shrink. I have medium-thick hair that is decently damaged and is 20" thick from scalp to tip. I'm also white. I'm thinking of getting them so they're life sized ruler

littl3birdy: Hey nessdeyali , bumps and loops are part of the process. Combing out the dreads and restarting will just lead to the same result. Check out some of the timelines here and you will see lots of bumps.

sketchymagpie: Hey V. It does occasionally, but the problem is that a lot of people use Tapatalk to access the site on their phones and you can't see this chat box on that, so of the small number of active users here currently, even less of them know this exists ha.
