Hey guys ^-^. Well.. i have been on this site for seriously years... so many years lurking. I had dreads before and used a different user name.. but i couldnt remember it since i mostly lurked from work as a ghost...i didnt wanna get caught being signed in to anything haha
My good friends girlfriend had dreads..and i was blown away by the quality of them.. she told me she did them herself and i knew i had to have her do my hair up. It took 5 nights and a total of almost 22hours to get them all in. She used backcombing and a crochet hook.. in the days that passed i have noticed very little change. They feel as tight as a set of year old dreads.. im sorta hoping they go through all the fun loopy stages.. but they havent budged really at all.. a few loose hairs. Its been 7 days exactly since i have put them. In ready to be messy!
They look awesome. I would definitely recommend leaving them alone and letting them do their thing, but it is up to what you want. They will look tidier, but the more crocheting you do, the weaker your locks will be in the long run.
I can tell they are going to be an epic set! Speaking as a neglecter, I would leave them. I think in the end it might be slower but more worth it, and the result of your patience and time. I think watching them change and develop is a lot more rewarding. But whatever you decide, they will likely turn out awesome!
FriendlyGoblin: Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting dreadlocks and I was wondering how much they'd shrink. I have medium-thick hair that is decently damaged and is 20" thick from scalp to tip. I'm also white. I'm thinking of getting them so they're life sized ruler

littl3birdy: Hey nessdeyali , bumps and loops are part of the process. Combing out the dreads and restarting will just lead to the same result. Check out some of the timelines here and you will see lots of bumps.

sketchymagpie: Hey V. It does occasionally, but the problem is that a lot of people use Tapatalk to access the site on their phones and you can't see this chat box on that, so of the small number of active users here currently, even less of them know this exists ha.
