My name is Dominic, and I am from New Mexico. I have been lurking the forums looking at everyones inspiring dread timelines. I started my first few back in May and have been adding them here and there ever since.
A pre picture for documentation of the "how it was"
I already started in this one but it was taken to show length before my whole head ends up with dreads.

December 1, 2016 There are now 14 dreads all started at various dates through out the start since May. This is also fresh out of a shower.
December 6, 2016 some loops and hooks
A braid my girlfriend did for me the other night
I just added 3 more but do not have pictures of them. I need to upload more pictures as well, and go through my time sheet so I know how many I had at each date posted regarding the time I started each dread.
Hope you enjoyed, and thank you for everyone else's threads.
Update 1/4/2017 Dread count is now 29 Added 15 of them through the month of December. Getting more and more excited about them the more I add.
All my loose hair tied up top.
All my loose hair down.
January 24th I think I had 29 here.
February 12th Just finished 20-34
34 of them a few days after finished the last batch.
March 8th with 42 dreads now
I picture I tried to recreate because I saw it Moonmama84's thread and thought it looked cool
So I noticed my dreads are starting to flatten out near the roots of my head, like within the first 6 inches from the base. I started wearing a headband more often than not since December, So I am assuming the ones on the side of my head are getting flat from that and I am not wearing a headband anymore. The ones on the back of my head I am assuming are getting flat from sleeping on them and leaning up against them either during driving or at work from my office chair. Any pointers to restore the cylindrical shape? I am going to try to be more conscious of how or when I rest my head against something to limit the severity of them getting flatten out.

chesh: Hey rye, under the "Dreadlock FAQ" >>> "The Basics" there is information on washing on the bottom. In my experience so far it has been best to wash my dreads when they get itchy and use a dry shampoo to help with the oils that are produced naturally.

SketchyMagpie: Hey. It differs on hair type but generally speaking, you can lose up to between 25-50% of the length. Most people will be around the 25%-35% mark, ish.

FriendlyGoblin: Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting dreadlocks and I was wondering how much they'd shrink. I have medium-thick hair that is decently damaged and is 20" thick from scalp to tip. I'm also white. I'm thinking of getting them so they're life sized ruler

littl3birdy: Hey nessdeyali , bumps and loops are part of the process. Combing out the dreads and restarting will just lead to the same result. Check out some of the timelines here and you will see lots of bumps.

50locks: Is there an app for this? Its really hard to use on my phone lol
Feb 9, 2017 8:29:13 GMT
sketchymagpie: Hey V. It does occasionally, but the problem is that a lot of people use Tapatalk to access the site on their phones and you can't see this chat box on that, so of the small number of active users here currently, even less of them know this exists ha.
