Hello to all of you beautiful people! My name is Kat and I am from Rainbow City, Alabama. Not a very dread friendly place as you might of guessed, so I'm happy to find a community that supports this type of expression I started this set of dreadies on 2/29/2016. My parents were married on leap year and so that date has always had special meaning to me. These are actually my second set. I did both completely on my own so there isn't a lot of uniformity (which I like). Some are thick and fluffy and some are still thin and loose and the best thing about them is no two are alike. I used the twist and rip method on the length of my hair and backcombed the tips to lock them in place. I don't do much maintenance. No wax used. I palm roll once in a blue moon, but for the most part I wash every couple of days, separate and air dry. I've watched almost every YouTube video on dreads and visit dreadlocktruth religiously. I love how unique each set is on this site and thank you all for sharing! It helps to see what is happening and keeps me motivated. Much love <3
Sorry for the quality of picture. My dreads are now 4 months young.
I decided to go blonde and these are the colors of my dreads for the month of June
This is my fav right now. I call him driggs. My sister just moved to Driggs, Idaho and she has a beautiful view of the Grand Teton Mts from her bedroom window.
A few more
5 month update 7/29/16
No major changes besides my top layer is shrinking ever so much!
Just hit the half year mark. Still not much of a change, but this set locked up quicker than ma last set soooo. Lengthening moving at glacial speeeeeeed..... The right picture is my desperate attempt to force ma hair to touch the part of my back which misses it so! Ha! Ok now....lean into it... tilting further... just a bit more... almost there (but not even close...) haha!
Just doing a touch up on color and opened the wrong toner :/ As you can see above that the 2 bottles look just alike... I've been considering going silver, but that would take only a small amount to wella 050 cooling violet... I USED THE WHOLE BOTTLE! Ha! I was hoping to use the wella t18 to get rid of ma orange and yellow tones after bleaching...
I've always wanted to be creepy! Ha
Good thing Halloween is just around the corner :/
After one shower and now completely dry! Phew
I was worried there a mo...
7 month update!
Not much to show other than the Neverending blaaah of shrinkage :/
Ma tips are blunting up on their own. I'd rather have loose ends, but being ma hair is soooo short, it would look rather sloppy if I were to brush them out at this point... so I'm leaving it alone right now. Maybe in a year or two I can have nice curls at the tips. Who knows...
It's hard to reach these suckers to show many pictures... so here are just a few...
Just a shot of all the different colors I've had...
This is month 8 of my fantastic dreading journey. My roots are beginning to show which means that there is some growth.... so YAY!!
Here's to the next 8 months and beyond ♡
